About the artist
Who I am
I am a young artist based in Ottawa Ontario, who is currently hoping to go into illustration and concept art. One day I want to work as a character designer in the industry. I want to eventually work for big companies like maybe Dreamworks or Sony.
I enjoy gothic fashion, music, and collecting figures and dolls. How I Started and How I wanted to pursue Art as a Career
As a child I always enjoyed drawing. I always drew animals, fairies, literally anything you could imagine a 5 year old enjoying. Something I remember strongly about elementary school was how crazy the kids would go when recess was cancelled because of a rainy day, me however I would be relieved I could spend my recess stayed at my desk doodling whatever I wanted. I was never an outdoorsy kid, honestly even now I prefer staying inside drawing.
Anyways, as I got older I still never stopped drawing. I didn't want to take any drawing classes or lessons, I wanted to teach myself. In middle school I began watching YouTube videos of other artists, and referencing tutorials on Pinterest. I learned anatomy basics and that I could even use my own body as reference. In that time I wouldn't say I was good at drawing people correctly, but I would say I learned a lot of basics and retained them well. As every artist hears in their life at some point or another, I was told many times:
"being an artist is not a career".
Well that's wrong. So despite what I heard, I knew I was going to pursue something in the art field anyways. There wasn't anything else I wanted to do.
Throughout HIghschool I was able to work on those skills and make them stronger. Of course I went through the inevitable drawing anime style phase, but uh we don't mention that anymore.
Even after high school, I knew my skills were not up to par with what I would be competing with in the industry. So, I went to Algonquin College to study drawing foundations for Animation and Illustration. learned so much that I never thought I would even try. There I decided I knew what I wanted to do in the Animation world, a character designer.
I finished that program in April of 2024, and I want to continue my studies so I can further expand my knowledge of the industry and what I want to do.Where to reach meAny questions? Contact me on instagram or through email! :)
